THE Aussie bloke who has warbled his way on to American Idol will have his second crack at the US market following a failed music project with Madonna's record label.

The rather swoon-worthy Michael Johns took his band The Rising to the States in 2003 after being signed by Maverick records, then owned by pop queen Madonna. The deal hit a dud note, but Johns, 28, did find love and married a Texan gal.
That meant he scored a green card - enabling Johns to pull a Damian Leith (the Irishman who won the 2006 Oz Idol) and enter himself as a possible American Idol.
Johns made it into the final audition round this week after his rendition of Otis Redding's I've Been Loving You Too Long was described as "white soul'' by judge Simon Cowell.
